Mother's Day Flower Project
Tulips and brunch are a tried and true way to celebrate Mother’s Day. For the 25,000 women who spend Mother’s Day in a battered women’s shelter, however, this holiday seems hardly worth celebrating. JWI’s Mother’s Day Flower Project provides an opportunity to honor the women you love while supporting women in need. Every spring the Mother’s Day Flower Project sends beautiful bouquets of flowers to 150 battered women’s shelters across the U.S. in time for Mother’s Day, while raising funds for initiatives that work every day to educate communities, empower women and break the cycle of abuse. For each donation of $25 or more, JWI sends a beautiful Mother’s Day card to an honoree – a mother, daughter, sister or friend -- to let her know a donation was made in her name. (View the 10th anniversary card that JWI sent to honorees for Mother’s Day this year, featuring the painting “Long Life” by Israeli artist Betty Rubinstein.) For organizations that partner with the Mother’s Day Flower Project, JWI gives back $5 of every $25 donation you raise to your organization. Sign up your organization to join the 2009 Flower Project coalition in 2009!
If you have any questions or need more information about JWI’s Mother’s Day Flower Project, please contact JWI at 800.343.2823 or flowerproject@jwi.org.
