Expanding Awareness & Inspiring Action

When the Vow Breaks: Building a Response to Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community is a collection of resources that encourage communities to turn a constructively critical eye on their abuse prevention and response efforts.  This toolkit includes a variety of materials that can be distributed to participants, made available to clergy, and displayed for public awareness, as well as a 16-minute documentary film of first-hand accounts from abuse survivors, a domestic violence professional, and a rabbi.

JWI, in partnership with Chicagoland community organizations and agencies such as SHALVA and Jewish Child and Family Services, presents When the Vow Breaks programs for synagogues, educators, and other Chicagoland community groups, and then continues to work with those groups to build protocols to aid abuse survivors.  For more information contact Becky Adelberg, Chicago Community Outreach Coordinator, at badelberg@jwi.org or 847.373.3535.
