What do you do...

WHAT DO YOU DO NOW IF YOU ARE SARA?

Sara now knows that she has at least two friends to support her.  She can’t keep her relationship a secret any longer, and she knows that she’ll feel better once she begins to take action.  Sara has several options: she can ask Marcy and Amy to go with her as she talks to an adult – a youth advisor, a teacher, a parent, or anyone whom she trusts.  Sara can also go by herself to one of these adults, or she can call a hotline to talk about her problems.  She needs to realize that she is not responsible for her situation and that she won’t be able to change her relationship with Daniel.

WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU ARE MARCY OR AMY?

Marcy and Amy must realize that they have seen an extremely private part of Sara’s life revealed.  They should voice their support and encourage Sara to go get help.  While Marcy and Amy should remind Sara that the best thing to do is extricate herself from the relationship with Daniel, they shouldn’t pressure her or nag her about it.  The girls should remind Sara that they are there for her no matter what.  They should bring to Sara’s attention the options that she has for help – confiding in an adult, going to a hotline, and most importantly, being honest with herself.
