Domestic abuse affects all populations and the Jewish community is no exception. When the Vow Breaks: Building a Response to Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community is an important awareness tool that can help to correct the common misconception that domestic abuse does not happen in Jewish homes.

The toolkit features a 16-minute documentary with firsthand accounts from survivors and commentary from rabbis and a social worker experienced in treating victims and survivors of abuse. Accompanying the film are resources for community programming that will build public awareness, encourage communities to take a close look at how they prevent to domestic abuse and inspire them to take steps to improve responses.

The discussion guide includes:

• An outline for an interactive domestic abuse awareness program
• An overview of domestic abuse, including definitions, explanations of the dynamics of abuse, information about safety planning, and how to help a victim of abuse
• A section specifically for clergy with fact sheets, sample sermons, text studies, and a special prayer for victims of domestic abuse
