When Push Comes to Shove...It's No Longer Love! Dating Abuse Program

When Push Come to Shove…It’s No Longer Love!® is a 1.5 hour long program designed to teach teens, young adults and college students about unhealthy and abusive relationships. The newly updated discussion guide takes participants through a combination of interactive exercises, guided discussions, text studies, and a short film that help them:

  • Explore the dynamics of healthy and unhealthy relationships.
  • Learn to recognize warning signs of an abusive relationship.
  • Build skills for responding to dating abuse and being a supportive friend.
  • Create action steps for raising awareness and working to end dating abuse.

The centerpiece of this program is a short minute film where young Jews courageously share their experiences with dating abuse as a way of educating other young people. This program provides the tools for participants to take action steps in their communities to help end relationship abuse. Public awareness materials, which include 2 posters, 25 brochures and a sample button, are designed to provide visual reminders of the lessons learned through the material and as a way of extending the messages beyond the actual participants. Additional materials may be purchased in the marketplace.

Program participants can be co-ed groups can be or single-gender.

Whether you use this toolkit in a Jewish high school, Hebrew school, confirmation class, youth group, summer camp, college campus organization, JCC, or other venue, you are taking an important step to heighten awareness and open a vital discussion among young people about these distressing and often hidden issues. Together we can create a new language for communicating about, and within, healthy relationships.
