Dating Abuse

Dating Abuse

What is dating abuse?

Dating abuse isn't an argument that happens once in a while--it is a pattern of coercive behaviors used to establish control over a partner.

Who does dating abuse affect?

Dating abuse can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.

If you think you are being abused or know someone who is, seek help with one of these confidential hotlines, websites and resources.

For more information about JWI's programs and projects, email programming@jwi.org.

Please note: We recognize that dating abuse knows no boundaries and that both men and women can be both perpetrators and victims of abuse. However, the vast majority of reported dating abuse is men as perpetrators and women as victims--for this reason, the victim will often be refered to as "she" on this website.
