New Campus of JWI’s Children’s Home in Israel Opens its Doors

On March 15, 2009, 100 of Israel’s most vulnerable and neglected children were welcomed home, as they arrived at the spacious, peaceful, nurturing new treatment facility where they’ll continue to heal and learn. The brand-new Kyriat Yearim campus of JWI’s Children’s Home in Israel has finally opened its doors to residents and staff, continuing our 60-year legacy of caring for some of Israel's most emotionally fragile children.

Take a look at photos from moving day and the new campus!

JWI purchased the land for the Home's long-time campus in Bayit Vegan in 1952; in the years since, the Children's Home has cared for thousands of children. At the new campus the Children’s Home will continue to pioneer effective therapies for children at risk, while extending its reputation as a world-class treatment program and training resource for professionals.

The Home heals young residents by building their self-worth, re-establishing their trust in the world, and preparing them for re-entry into the community. Innovative drug-free therapies, family involvement, and an intensive one-to-one ratio of staff to children are all emphasized in the unique long-term treatment program. This new campus opens an exciting new chapter for both the Children's Home and the enormous generosity of the JWI community.

Situated on the outskirts of Jerusalem, the new Children’s Home site is twice as large as the old facility. A series of covered walkways and bridges connect the home’s main buildings; recreational fields, a basketball court, and additional play areas for the children are situated in the center of campus; and the brand-new buildings include a school for upper-level children, dining facilities and a multipurpose room, administrative buildings, new residential quarters for children and staff, individual bathrooms, and much more.

Be a cornerstone for the next generation of Israel’s most vulnerable children by contributing to the Capital Campaign.
