Every woman should have enough fundamental financial literacy skills to secure her economic independence and long-term security. JWI is committed to making this knowledge base a cornerstone of every woman’s education – by creating innovative financial literacy programs for girls and women of every age – and also to advancing equal pay policies on Capitol Hill.
Our series of Life$avings® workshops empower teen girls, college students and young professionals to start managing their money early in their careers, and women in their 40s, 50s and beyond to take charge of their finances for long-term security. Women of every age learn the importance of self-sufficiency; that with money of their own and the knowledge to manage it, they’ll enjoy more options and freedom than they will without personal savings or independently-held resources.
Life$avings® for Teens includes a mother/daughter seminar, workshops for teens, a public awareness campaign, and more, and teaches key elements of budgeting, saving, and asset building, all within a Jewish context. Life$avings® for College Students and Young Professionals includes workshops and public awareness materials for women transitioning out of college, empowering them to negotiate their salaries and plan for long-term economic security. Life$avings®: Financial Empowerment After 50 teaches strategies to save money in the midst of changing roles; make those savings last; and secure a financial future after major life transitions. JWI has also partnered with Hadassah on Know Your Worth: Own Your Future which explores how to ensure long-term economic security, including managing income streams; honing financial and negotiating skills; investing; all in the context of the Jewish values that underlie these decisions.
