Washington, D.C. – As the recent tragedy in Hesston, Kansas shows, domestic violence is not a private matter, but a public safety crisis that impacts millions of people every day. The perpetrator of yesterday’s horrific crime had a history of firearm violations and domestic abuse convictions. Violent abusers with guns are a threat to our families, workplaces and communities. JWI calls on Congress to keep guns out of the hands of abusers and  take immediate action to end the epidemic of gun violence that continues to claim innocent lives. We stand with the Hesston community in mourning the victims of this tragedy and pray for healing and strength for the survivors.
