A four-part workshop series on career readiness and financial independence for Jewish survivors of domestic violence.
Financial and economic abuse are central to how domestic violence traps survivors.
JWI’s 2021 National Needs Assessment, “Domestic Violence in the Jewish Community,” found that 98% of Jewish survivors of abuse report a lack of financial resources as a key barrier to escaping violence. In 99% of intimate partner violence cases, survivors are left with little to no income, no access to cash or bank accounts, fraudulent and/or coerced debt in their name, and damaged financial profiles. Up to 60% lose their jobs as a result of abuse. (Source: FreeFrom, Survivors Know Best.)
JWI created ReStart to address the long-term impact of financial and economic abuse, giving Jewish survivors the practical tools to return to the workforce or enhance their current professional standing
