Sip 'N Paint

  • Museica's Sip & Paint 2052 North Western Avenue Chicago, IL, 60647 (map)

Connect with JWI’s Chicago Young Women’s Impact Network and enjoy an interactive paint and sip experience with a twist of self care. We’ll hear from two speakers who’ll educate us about the prominence of breast and ovarian cancer in Jewish women and what to do if you or a loved one are ever faced with cancer. We’ll learn from a local gynecologist who has worked with women cancer survivors, and from Sharsheret, a nonprofit organization that improves the lives of Jewish women and families living with or at increased genetic risk for breast or ovarian cancer.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required, and due to local Chicago guidelines, a mask must be worn inside upon entry and in all common areas of the venue.

Dr. Mercedes Castiel

Dr. Castiel is a gynecologist who was most recently Director of Women’s Cancer Survivorship at the University of Chicago. Dr. Castiel is widely known as a pioneer in women's cancer survivorship programs. In addition, she founded the first fellowship in women's cancer
survivorship, establishing curricula and fostering scholarship in the new field. Later, when she joined the faculty at New York University School of Medicine, she started a similar survivorship program. Over the years, Dr. Castiel also served as a director for a CME course, Women and Cancer: From Screening to Survivorship, attended by hundreds of physicians. In addition, she has given numerous invited talks on a wide range of topics in gynecology and has contributed to research endeavors and teaching. Dr. Castiel is a member of several professional societies and serves on the North American Menopause Society’s (NAMS) Education Committee.
