Supporting Survivors - Tools for Hillel Professionals Responding to Sexual Violence

Join JWI and CHANA for a FREE Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) webinar for Hillel professionals on responding to campus sexual violence.

Goals:

  • Introduce language and information to educate Hillel professionals on sexual violence and dating abuse.

  • Teach Hillel Professionals ways to respond to disclosures of abuse, trauma, and violation.

  • Equip Hillel Professionals with training and tools to support survivors after disclosures and direct survivors to appropriate resources.

  • Foster an environment of safety and support at campus Hillels.

Objectives:

  • Define terms associated with sexual violence and dating abuse

  • Identify the personal and communal impacts of trauma

  • Understand your role when a student discloses

  • Learn ways to handle disclosures and support survivors

  • Discuss response options and resources for survivors and perpetrators

 Lauren Shaivitz, LGSW, J.D., is the executive director at CHANA, an agency of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore that provides crisis intervention, education and consultation for victims of abuse and advocates for community awareness, safety and healing.
