YWIN Philly - A Conversation with Jill Aschkenasy, Found of Our Closet In Your Neighborhood

  • Rittenhouse Square (address provided with RSVP) Philadelphia, PA, 19106 United States (map)

Join YWIN Philly for A Conversation with Jill Aschkenasy, founder of Our Closet In Your Neighborhood. We are honored to be hosted by Jill and her mom, Carol Blank Barsh, at Carol's home in Rittenhouse Square. Both Jill and Carol are very active members of Philadelphia community, serving in various volunteer and lay leader roles supporting a variety of causes. Together, we will discuss how to take your passions and turn them into real impact. We will also be collecting accessories (handbags, jewelry, scarves, hats, etc.) to be donated to Our Closet In Your Neighborhood.

Kosher style light dinner and drinks will be served. Dress code is casual. If street parking is not available, we suggest using the paid lot at 1845 Walnut Street. No cost to attend but advanced registration requested.

Jill Aschkenasy is the founder and advisory board chair of Our Closet In Your Neighborhood (OCIYN), a volunteer-driven program providing clothing, food and access to a social worker to vulnerable individuals and their families through pop-up shops in Philadelphia. OCIYN merged 6 years ago with Jewish Family Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia, where Jill is now on the Board of Trustees. Jill is also the Board Chair of the Aspen Community Foundation and sits on the Women’s Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. Jill worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan before moving to Philadelphia to raise a family. Jill lives in Haverford, PA with her husband, Paul, and their four children.

FAQs:

What’s JWI? Jewish Women International (JWI) is the leading Jewish organization working to empower women and girls – of every race, culture, ability, gender identity, and sexual orientation – by ensuring and protecting their safety, building access to long-term economic security, and lifting and mentoring women leaders.

What’s the Young Women’s Impact Network? The network connects and supports local Jewish women and non-binary people in their 20s and 30s with empowering programs and leadership development. Learn more.

What kind of programming does JWI put on? Our programs connect young Jewish women and non-binary people together and provide them with opportunities to grow together, thrive independently, and create a lasting impact on the world around them. Many of our programs focus on financial empowerment, healthy relationships, personal and professional development, and more!
