321ACTION: National Youth Violence Prevention Week, Medication Abortion, & the Sexual-Abuse-To-Prison Pipeline

Ready to make a difference?

Here are three ways to get started:

1. Take action during National Youth Violence Prevention Week

Guns are now the leading cause of death for children and teens in the U.S. We all have a vital role to play in reversing this appalling trend and keeping kids safe.

Join youth and teens from across the country to take a stand against violence by promoting National Youth Violence Prevention Week (April 24th - April 28th), a time to unite and lift up youth who work to make their schools and neighborhoods safer. Get involved by sharing @sandyhookpromise posts on Facebook and Instagram and taking action.

2. Get the latest information on medication abortion

On Friday, the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the lower courts’ attempts to ban or drastically reduce access to the safe, effective, FDA-approved drug Mifepristone. This ruling means that Mifepristone remains available for medication abortion while the current cases make their way through the courts.

To make sure you have up to do date information on how these cases are impacting care, go to abortionfinder.org.

3. Make a difference for youth sexual assault survivors

8 years after researchers at the Center on Gender Justice & Opportunity at Georgetown Law coined the term the “sexual-abuse-to-prison pipeline”, they produced a new report showing that youth sexual abuse victims are still ending up in jails and prisons, being unfairly punished for the violence perpetrated onto them.

Read the new report “Criminalized Survivors: Today’s Abuse to Prison Pipeline for Girls” to learn more about this crisis and how you can make a difference. #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth
