JWI supports new bipartisan bill for survivors from faith-based communities
Jewish Women International (JWI) and the Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence are proud to support the Supporting Survivors from Faith-Based Communities Act, recently introduced by Representatives Lois Frankel (D-FL-22) and Young Kim (R-CA-40).
This bipartisan legislation closes a long-standing gap in federal law by establishing a national resource center on domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking in faith communities.
The bill addresses some of the primary concerns raised by faith leaders, faith-based victim service organizations, and people of faith who have experienced gender-based violence in the Interfaith Coalition’s Faith Leaders Reflect on Federal Efforts to End Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking.
JWI is honored to have informed the development of the bill, which provides vital training and resources to help faith leaders, victim service providers, and other stakeholders better support survivors. We applaud Representatives Frankel and Kim for their bipartisan leadership in introducing this critical bill and for their steadfast commitment to protecting survivors across the country.
